Design Sketches + Schematic Principles
Our way of working is strongly influenced by the specific parameters of each project. We use both the client’s and designer’s way of thinking to inspire our design input. As a result, we aim for our contributions to follow the Design Process smoothly with an emphasis on fulfilling the expectations of all design stakeholders.
Complex Geometry + Parametric Solutions
Each VS-A company has inhouse architects or engineers who deal with complex geometry. The world is changing: more and more challenging geometries appear in the Architects’ projects, and more and more suppliers and contractors are able to make those projects become real. Although almost everything is technically feasible, we always look for some geometric logic that allows to make significant cost-savings and get reduced construction tolerances on site.
Structural Engineering + Calculations
Each VS-A company has in-house structural engineers who deal with safety, solidity, and value engineering. Different tools are used to accurately calculate different types of components using 2D or 3D models. Most kinds of structure can be calculated and value-engineered: bars, tensioned structures, flat or complex shells, cold-bending, and 3D objects.

Maintenance Solutions + BMU Strategies
The characteristics of the envelope will quickly decline if there isn’t an appropriate maintenance strategy that allows cleaning, but also repairing and eventually replacing of some components. The visual and structural impact of the BMU is not minor, therefor they are to be integrated in a very early stage in the design process.
Construction Drawings
By the time we approach the construction phase, our drawing packages will have been meticulously refined to clearly illustrate the design intent, reaching a level of detail where the temptation for the selected contractor to deviate from the established design is significantly mitigated.
Value Engineering
There’s no Client that’s willing to spend more than what he gets. But our aim is also to find the solutions that comply with the design intend with less. The most significant savings are found in the early design stages, while in the later stages, it’s only a matter of small adjustments by balancing quality and cost.
Visual Mock-Up
Each project is shaped by a myriad of factors that contribute to its uniqueness and distinguish it from others. While rendering tools undoubtedly empower designers to convey their vision, providing a visual representation of their intentions, the actual execution of the project often presents a reality that can be markedly different from the initial illustrations. Furthermore, creating a visual mock-up necessitates a considerable amount of experience, enabling the model to accurately reflect the future project as closely as possible, thereby bridging the gap between conception and reality.
